To help illustrate the importance of standard and non-standard units of measurement, we read this book. In addition to reading this story, the students participated in a fun activity to create a strong base for comparing measurements. Enjoy!
Although it's the middle of the second nine weeks, students are having difficulty with their high frequency words. Please make sure that they are studied daily from the study guide that they receive weekly. Also, please assist your child in learning their basic addition and subtraction facts. It is imperative that students are prepared and have all the tools needed to be successful. Thanks for all that you do!
Throughout the year, we use Remind to assist in notifying parents of important events or occurrences (school closings, field trips, inclement weather, etc.). Please follow the simple directions listed below in order to sign up for messages. Phone numbers aren't shared with anyone. This system just compiles your number in one file so that I can send messages to you all at once.
We'll be discussing healthy food choices in Health. This video will be used to lead our discussion. We'll bring attention to how food is marketed towards kids and how they can make better choices when deciding what they eat.

In Topic 7-2, we introduced two strategies to subtract numbers mentally by finding parts of 100. Some students struggled due to them wanting to add instead of subtracting. As time develops and their mathematic toolboxes grow, they will become better mathematicians.
As we begin Unit 4: The Environment is Science, we will use this book to help with our discussion of animal homes. We will be learning how animals share the environment as well as including previous discussions on how we all depend on each other.
